Fior di Loto Martini
By Master Chef Gianluca Deiana Abis
History
The lotus flower, though not traditionally Italian, symbolizes purity and beauty across many cultures. In this creative twist, we blend the light floral notes with classic Italian elements, crafting a Martini that’s sophisticated and serene. This cocktail is perfect for those seeking a delicate, aromatic experience that evokes tranquility and refinement.
Ingredients
50ml (1.75 oz) Premium Italian Vodka (Mamma Mia or VKA Vodka)
25ml (¾ oz) St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
10ml (⅓ oz) Lotus Flower Syrup (or rose syrup, for a similar floral touch)
15ml (½ oz) Fresh Lemon Juice
A few drops of orange blossom water (optional, for extra fragrance)
Ice cubes
Edible flower or lemon twist, for garnish
Instructions
Chill the Glass:
Place a Martini glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes for the perfect chill.
Shake the Drink:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add the vodka, St-Germain, lotus flower syrup, fresh lemon juice, and a few drops of orange blossom water (if using).
Shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds to combine and chill.
Strain & Serve:
Strain into the chilled Martini glass.
Garnish:
Float an edible flower on the surface or twist a thin slice of lemon peel over the glass to release its oils, then drop it in for a minimalist touch.
Perfect Pairing – Italian Aperitivo Companion
Caprese Bites – Skewer cherry tomatoes, mini mozzarella balls (Fior di Latte), and fresh basil leaves, drizzled with a touch of balsamic glaze. This light and fresh bite beautifully complements the floral and citrusy notes of the cocktail.
Chef Tip:
For a touch of effervescence, top the Martini with a splash of Prosecco—this will add a lovely, fizzy texture that plays well with the floral notes.
A serene and aromatic Fior di Loto Martini, perfect for moments of relaxation or elegant entertaining. Salute! 🌸🍸
